Studio Headshots & Passport Photos in Potsdam, NY: What’s Coming

I’m building out a new studio headshot setup in Potsdam, NY. It gives clients another option alongside my on-location portrait sessions: simple backgrounds, controlled lighting and time to work on expression and posing.

The service is opening by appointment in a private home studio. I’m starting with individual headshots, senior portraits and two-person sessions. Sample studio photographs will be added as the portfolio develops.

Free headshot sessions while I build the portfolio

For this portfolio-building offer, I’m offering free 15-minute headshot sessions with a minimum of 5 final photos delivered to you. In exchange, I ask that you sign a photo release so I can use the images in my portfolio.

This is a separate portfolio-building offer. The paid studio packages below have different session lengths and image counts.

What will paid studio portrait sessions cost?

Studio Essential — $195: up to 25 minutes, one person, one outfit, a choice of black or white background and 10 edited high-resolution images.

Studio Signature — $325: up to 60 minutes, up to two photographed people, up to two outfits per person, black and white background options, and 20 edited images total. We can make individual and two-person photographs within the same session.

Paid studio galleries are delivered within 1–2 calendar weeks. A $50 deposit credits the total, with the balance due 48 calendar hours before the session. Outfit and background changes count within session time. Additional time is $75 per 30 minutes, subject to availability. Three or more people and full-body requests need a separate quote after confirming the available space and setup.

Studio or on-location portraits?

A studio session works well when you want a clean background and a consistent look for a professional profile, website, senior portrait or personal portrait. An on-location session makes the campus, town, outdoor setting or another meaningful place part of the photographs.

My on-location Essential portrait session remains $150 for up to 30 minutes. The new studio service starts at $195 for up to 25 minutes. Choose around the photographs you want and the setting that suits them.

U.S. and Canadian passport photo appointments

I’m also welcoming U.S. and Canadian passport photo inquiries from Potsdam and St. Lawrence County, including Canton, Massena and Ogdensburg. Passport photography is a separate appointment, quoted after confirming the issuing country, application route, number of people, deadline and printed or digital delivery.

U.S. paper applications use a 2 × 2-inch (51 × 51 mm) color photograph with the required head size and a plain white or off-white background. Canadian paper applications require two identical professional 50 × 70 mm prints, a chin-to-crown measurement of 31–36 mm, uniform lighting and photographer information on the back of one print. Eligible online renewals have separate digital requirements.

Passport photos receive no beauty retouching, filters, AI alteration, color/exposure enhancement or background replacement. The current instructions for your application are checked before delivery, and final acceptance is determined by the passport authority. Confirm professional printing, required annotations and delivery before booking.

What should I bring to a studio headshot session?

Bring clothing you feel comfortable wearing, check it for wrinkles, and choose an outfit that suits where you will use the photographs. If you have a specific crop, background or school requirement, send it before scheduling. A couple of reference pictures can help explain the look you have in mind.

You don’t need to arrive with a posing plan. I’ll guide you through the session. Paid portrait clients may request portfolio privacy at no charge; the free portfolio-building offer specifically requires a photo release.
